Never Ignore Windows Updates
Windows updates frequently contain patches for Windows bugs, but they also contain critical security features. Ignoring these updates puts your PC and any other PC’s on your network at risk. While it’s true that some updates can cause conflicts with other software applications, for the lay user it is important to install all security patches. If you have an IT department that manages your updates, listen to them, as they know your network the best.
If you don’t remember ever being notified from Windows Update about installing software updates or patches, you can check to see if it is turned on from Control Panel and then Windows Update (Vista) or Automatic Updates (XP).
