Best Disk Defragger
Lifehacker asked their readers to vote for the best hard disk defragger and the winner is a program named Defraggler. Read the whole article here.
Disk defraggers rewrite hard disk information and make fir files contiguous. When files are written to a hard drive, they are written to the first available sector. While that makes it quick and easy to write files, when reading them it can slow down the process because the read heads need to move all over the surface of the disk to find all off the fragments of the file. A defragger will put all the fragments in order, so the file fills contiguous sectors of the drive, so reading the file is quicker.
All versions of Windows have some type of defragger which you can get to from the Properties menu of a disk drive. I’ve had good success with JkDefrag. If you have any questions regarding disk defragging, head on over to Top PC Support and give me a call to setup an appointment.
My favourite is Diskeeper. Its the best automatic defragger I have used. Once set to run in the background, one can very well forget abt defrag.
