Malware on NYTimes.com
September 14, 2009
It looks like the New York Times online was serving virus laden ads over the weekend and into today. If you think you may have been infected, and don’t know what to do about it, head on over to Top PC Support and give us a call. We’ll clean that virus right off your PC!

Well,
This is not the first time a company has served up a virus without knowing a thing about it.
It happens often with websites that run affiliate ads as they never know what server the next ad is going to be comming from.
That’s right. I don’t fully blame the Times. People need to be sure their anti virus programs are up to date with the latest virus signatures. People also need to learn what is spam and not click the ad itself. As long as you close the spam window (click on the X in the upper right hand corner), you should have been Ok from this ad. Just don’t click on the “buttons” on the ad. It’s all one graphical link that will download a virus or other malware.
