Avast anti-virus software was selected as one of three free choices recommended by the Personal Tech section of The New York Times. That is also the software that Top PC Support recommends for anti-virus protection. The free version works just as well as the paid version, it just doesn’t have an many features. For people who do not want a suite of security tools (anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, etc.), Avast is an excellent choice for stand-alone anti-virus software. Avast is ready for Window 7 as well.
