Use a “Live CD” for Banking
Brian Krebs, noted Washington Post Security Fix writer, has written a follow-up article touting why a Linux Live CD should be used for online banking, especially for companies, which must report any account irregularities within 1-2 days (as opposed to consumer accounts which have 30-60 days).
A Live CD is the Linux Operating System on a read-only CD-ROM. You can boot a standard PC off that CD and have a session that is more secure than Windows. If your online banking is done from a web browser, check to see if your bank supports Firefox. Internet Explorer is a Windows-only browser and is not supported by Linux.
If you need assistance selecting a Live CD (there are many to choose from), please give us a call at Top PC Support and we will evaluate your needs, make a recommendation and set you up for safe online banking.
