Verizon FiOS Router Information

December 31, 2009

Many Warren area homes and business’s have Verizon FiOS (high speed Internet, Phone and Television service) available to them.  If you recently had FiOS Internet service installed, your network may be open to intruders.  Verizon’s default settings, such as SSID, administrator password and WEP security settings are not secure (some are even posted on the Internet for anyone to find) and hackers or others may be able to login to your network and take over your computers.  They may use your network for downloading files without your knowledge.

Contact Top PC Support for a network review and to lock down your network so only you have access!

Happy New Year to all readers.  May your computers and networks run smoother and virus free in 2010.

Does your cursor jump around?

December 16, 2009

If your mouse cursor jumps around a lot on screen (at least I hope were talking about computer mouse, and really, the trackpad), maybe it’s time to look at your settings. First, you should be sure you’re running the latest software drivers for your trackpad. You can download them from your computer manufacturer’s web site (check the support or drivers section).

Check the sensitivity settings and tweak them a bit. You will need to use trial and error to make adjustments and see what works for you. You may also want to disable the “tap to click” function. I know that’s the first thing I turn off. I prefer to use the buttons below the trackpad.

If nothing works, and before you take a baseball bat to your computer, give us a call at Top PC Support and we’ll get your computer working the way you want it to.
